Mt. Fuji Today [January 4, 2026]

Today's Mt Fuji

Hi, I’m Take — born and raised in Fujinomiya. On this blog, I share practical, local tips so you can enjoy the area like a local.

Introduction

Happy New Year! Today is Sunday, January 4, 2026. The sky over Fujinomiya is a stunning, deep “Fuji Blue” without a single cloud in sight. It’s a crisp, cold winter morning—the kind where the air feels so fresh it wakes up your soul. Currently, the temperature is hovering around 6°C (43°F), but with the brilliant sunshine, it feels quite comfortable as long as you stay out of the wind.

Highlights

  • Visibility: 10 / 10 Today offers peak visibility. From my spot here at the local park, you can see every ridge and contour of the mountain. The contrast between the dark volcanic rock and the white snow is incredibly sharp.
  • Snow Condition: As you can see in the photo, Mt. Fuji is wearing its heavy winter coat. The snow cap is thick and extends far down towards the base—very typical for early January. The snow looks pristine and reflects the sunlight beautifully.
  • Local Tip: It’s a perfect day for photography! However, don’t let the sun fool you; the wind coming off the mountain is icy. If you’re heading out to Shizuoka Shizuoka Saibi Park or the Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha, make sure to wear a heavy down jacket, a scarf, and heat-tech layers.
