Mt. Fuji Today [January 24, 2026]
Hi, I’m Take — born and raised in Fujinomiya. On this blog, I share practical, local tips so you can enjoy the area like a local.
Introduction
Today is Saturday, January 24, 2026. If you are in Fujinomiya today, you are in for a treat! We have a classic, crisp winter morning with a deep blue sky that we locals call “Fuji Blue.” The air is cold but incredibly fresh, making the mountain look sharper than ever.
- Weather: Sunny / Clear Skies
- Temperature in Fujinomiya: High $11^{\circ}\text{C}$ / Low $-1^{\circ}\text{C}$
- Overall Impression: A perfect winter day where the mountain feels so close you could almost touch it.
Highlights
Visibility: 10/10
As you can see from the photo I snapped near the local shops, there isn’t a single cloud blocking the view. In winter, the air is dry and stable, which provides the best visibility of the entire year.
Snow Condition
The snow cap is currently at its peak beauty. The “crown” of Mt. Fuji is thick and extends quite far down the mid-section. From this angle in Fujinomiya (the southwest side), you can see the rugged texture of the snow-filled ridges. It looks like a giant scoop of powdered sugar!
Practical Tips for Visitors
- Clothing: It is freezing in the shade! Please wear a heavy down jacket, a scarf, and gloves. If you’re walking around town to take photos, “Heat-tech” inner layers are a lifesaver.
- Best Time: Mid-morning is great, but try to catch the “Red Fuji” (Aka-Fuji) at sunset—the white snow turns a beautiful pinkish-red.
Local Knowledge: The summit of Mt. Fuji is actually private land belonging to Fujinomiya’s Sengen Taisha Shrine!
