Hi, I’m Take — born and raised in Fujinomiya. On this blog, I share practical, local tips so you can enjoy the area like a local.
Introduction
Greetings from the Shin-Fuji area! It is a crisp and cold Tuesday morning. Currently, the temperature is 1°C (34°F). The air is exceptionally dry and clear, which is typical for this time of year in Shizuoka. If you’re stepping off the Shinkansen today, you’ll be greeted by a breathtaking view immediately. Just a heads-up: the wind coming off the mountain is biting, so a heavy down jacket and a scarf are absolute essentials today!
Highlights
• Visibility: 10/10
Today offers perfect visibility. As you can see in the photo I took near the station (right by the Nissan Rent-a-car sign), the mountain is visible in its full, massive glory. Even the birds perched on the power lines seem to be enjoying the view! The contrast between the deep blue sky and the white peak is stunningly sharp.
• Snow Conditions:
The “snow line” has descended quite low, covering the upper half of the mountain in a thick, brilliant white blanket. This is the peak of the winter season, and the snow looks very stable and crisp. The morning sun gives the ridges a beautiful three-dimensional texture.
