Hi, I’m Take — born and raised in Fujinomiya. On this blog, I share practical, local tips so you can enjoy the area like a local.
Introduction
Good morning from Shizuoka! It is Thursday, February 19, 2026.
The air is crisp and cold this morning, which is typical for February. The temperature is hovering around 3°C (37°F) right now. It’s definitely a “shivering” kind of cold, but that usually means one thing for us locals: the view is going to be spectacular.
Highlights & Visibility
Today’s view from Shin-Fuji Station is breathtaking!
• Visibility: 9/10.
The sky is a brilliant, clear blue. While there is a thick band of clouds hovering around the lower base of the mountain, the summit is perfectly visible. This is a classic winter morning scene.
• Snow Condition:
The “Yukigesho” (snow makeup) is stunning right now. The snow cap is thick and extends quite far down the slopes, creating that iconic white cone against the blue sky. The contrast between the rugged rock lines and the white snow is very sharp today.
Traveler Tips:
If you are stepping off the Shinkansen at Shin-Fuji Station or heading up to Fujinomiya, make sure you are dressed warmly! You need a heavy winter coat, a scarf, and gloves. The wind can be quite strong in this area.
Today’s Petit Trivia:
Did you know? The water that passes through Mt. Fuji’s basalt layers is rich in vanadium, a mineral known for its health benefits—so drink up!
