Today's Mt Fuji

Hi, I’m Take — born and raised in Fujinomiya. On this blog, I share practical, local tips so you can enjoy the area like a local.

Good Morning from Fujinomiya!

It is Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

Right now, it is just before 6:00 AM. The town is still waking up, and the air is crisp and very cold. The sky is a deep, beautiful twilight blue—what photographers often call the “blue hour.” It’s a quiet and peaceful start to the day here in Shizuoka.

Highlights & Current Conditions

• Visibility: 8/10 (Excellent)

Even before full sunrise, the visibility is great. There are no clouds blocking the peak right now. The mountain looks massive and imposing against the dark blue sky.

• Snow & Scenery

As you can see in the photo I just took along the climbing route (Tozan-do), the snow is clearly visible on the upper slopes. It isn’t a solid white cap today; instead, you can see the rugged texture where the wind has blown the snow, revealing the dark volcanic rock underneath. The contrast between the green and white streetlights and the silent, dark mountain is a classic Fujinomiya view—nature and daily life side-by-side.

• Advice: If you are heading out to take photos of the sunrise, you need a heavy down jacket, a scarf, and gloves. The wind coming down from the mountain can cut right through light clothing.

Today’s Little Fuji Fact:

“Mt. Fuji does not run away” — There is no need to rush or panic if you miss a view; the mountain is always there waiting for you with a calm presence.
