Hi, I’m Take — born and raised in Fujinomiya. On this blog, I share practical, local tips so you can enjoy the area like a local.
Introduction
Happy Valentine’s Day from Fujinomiya! Today is a quintessential winter day here at the foot of the mountain. The sky is a deep, piercing blue, and the air is crisp and cold. With a daytime high of around 8°C (46°F), it’s perfect for sightseeing, though the wind coming off the snow can feel quite chilly.
Highlights
• Visibility: 10/10
Today offers absolute maximum visibility. There isn’t a single cloud masking the peak. From where I’m standing in the city (near the local shops and restaurants), the mountain looks massive and imposing.
• Snow Condition
As you can see in the photo, the snow cap is thick and extends quite far down the slopes. This “winter makeup” is exactly what people imagine when they think of Mt. Fuji. The texture of the ridges is clearly visible today because the sunlight is hitting the snow just right.
• Take’s Local Tip: Clothing
If you are visiting today, please dress in layers. While it’s sunny, the temperature drops rapidly as soon as you step into the shade. A warm down jacket and a scarf are essential if you’re planning to walk around the Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha Shrine.
Petit Info
The area from the 8th station to the summit is actually private land belonging to the Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha Shrine!
