Hi, I’m Take — born and raised in Fujinomiya. On this blog, I share practical, local tips so you can enjoy the area like a local.
Introduction
Good morning from Shizuoka! Today is Monday, February 9th. The sky is incredibly clear, and the winter air is crisp and refreshing. Currently, the temperature in the city is around 4°C (39°F), but it feels colder with the breeze. It’s a perfect day to see the mountain in its full winter glory.
Highlights
• Visibility: 10/10
The air is very dry today, which is typical for February. You can see every detail of the ridges from the base to the summit.
• Snow Conditions:
As you can see in the photo, the snow cap is thick and reaches quite far down the slopes. The peak is glowing with a beautiful pinkish-orange hue—what we locals call “Beni-Fuji” (Red Fuji)—as it catches the early morning light.
• Local Tip:
If you are visiting today, please wear a heavy coat and a scarf. If you’re heading toward the Asagiri Plateau or higher elevations, you’ll definitely need heat packs (Kairo) and gloves!
Local Trivia:
Did you know that from the 8th station upward, Mt. Fuji is actually private land belonging to the Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha shrine?
