Mt. Fuji Today Feb 16, 2026

Today's Mt Fuji

Hi, I’m Take — born and raised in Fujinomiya. On this blog, I share practical, local tips so you can enjoy the area like a local.

Introduction

Today is Monday, February 16, 2026. Greetings from a crisp, sunny morning!

Highlights

• Visibility: 10/10

The visibility is absolutely perfect today. From my vantage point at Shin-Fuji Station, there isn’t a single cloud blocking the view. You can see the sharp ridges near the summit clearly.

• Snow Condition

As you can see in the photo, the snow “cap” is looking thick and majestic. The snow line has descended quite low, covering about the top third of the mountain. This is the iconic “Winter Fuji” look that everyone dreams of seeing!

• Local Tip

While the sun is out, the wind near the station and open areas can be quite chilly. If you’re heading to the Fujinomiya area or Asagiri Highland, please wear a heavy coat, a scarf, and gloves. The temperature drops significantly as you get closer to the base.

Local Trivia:

「一富士二鷹三茄子」 It is said that dreaming of Mt. Fuji, a hawk, and an eggplant (in that order) brings the best luck for the New Year!
