Hi, I’m Take—born and raised in Fujinomiya. I share practical local tips in English for international visitors.
When our family goes for an easy weekend drive, we often end up at Doi Farm—a farm-run gelateria where you taste fresh milk in the breeze of open fields. If Mt. Fuji peeks out, great; if not, the slow countryside air is still perfect.
What it feels like
- A café & gelateria beside real dairy life—simple, calm, and unpretentious.
- Big windows to fields and sky; on clear days you catch Fuji’s ridge.
- Locals pop in with kids, grandparents, or after-school rides—no rush, no fuss.
Local note: Even on changeable-weather days, the grass-and-soil scent flips your mood in a minute.
What to order (family-tested)
- Milk: the clean, creamy base that shows off their own milk.
- Pistachio (my top pick): toasty aroma and rich body; pair it with Milk to feel the “Doi” balance.
- Seasonal flavors: peanut, royal milk tea, fruit, etc.—fun for kids to “vote” at the case.
- My default: Double = Pistachio + Milk.
- Cup or cone?
- For small kids or hot days: cup (less drip drama).
- For strolling the terrace: cone.
Family-friendly tips
- Seats: Window counter = “rice-field cinema.” Terrace is best when the breeze is on.
- Timing: Locals often swing by around 11:00 or 15:00 for a quick reset.
- Mini-lunch idea: If the bakery shelf is out, milk bread + coffee turns it into a tiny picnic.
- With strollers: Paths are easy; inside/outside flow is smooth.
Getting there (the local way)
- By car: Head southwest from central Fujinomiya. The last few hundred meters are narrow, so roll in gently.
- Parking: Right in front; even if it looks full, turnover is quick.
- Landmark: After a stretch of fields, a white building sits in an open pocket—you’ll know it.
Easy family-drive loops
- Shiraito Falls → Doi Farm: legs tired, sugar happy.
- Sengen Shrine (city stroll) → Doi Farm: cool down after errands.
- Lake Tanuki sunset → Doi Farm: quick treat before the golden hour (cup recommended in summer).
