Hi, I’m Take — born and raised in Fujinomiya.
On this blog I share practical, local tips for visitors so you can enjoy the area like a friend of a local.
In a nutshell
A calm, mostly flat 3.3–4 km loop around a lakeshore where, on still mornings, Mt. Fuji reflects perfectly on the water. It’s one of the most iconic places to see Mt. Fuji up close—simple, quiet, and photogenic.
Why go (just 3 reasons)
- Iconic Fuji shot: Crisp mirror reflections on calm mornings; in late April and August at sunrise you might catch the famed Double Diamond Fuji (sun on the summit + reflection).
- Easy loop: Benches and photo piers along a flat path—an effortless ~1-hour walk (or quick jog).
- Low-stress logistics: Parking, restrooms, and small kiosks are dotted around the lake.
60-minute plan (30-minute shortcut available)
North parking → counter-clockwise lakeside walk → photo stop at a pier → short bench break → return.
Short on time? Do viewpoint → pier photo → brief stroll and you’re done in 30–40 min.
Best timing
- Sunrise to +2 hours: clearest air and calmest water (best chance for reflections).
- After rain: winds ease, colors pop, the lake turns glassy.
- Evening: if the breeze dies, you may catch a soft mirror sunset.
Photo tips
- Use the left (west) bank and piers for clean lines and fewer people in your frame.
- Overcast is fine—Fuji’s shape and the lake’s silky texture still look great.
- Keep a tissue/microfiber handy for mist or drizzle.
Stay on the lake (optional)
- Kyukamura Fuji (hot-spring hotel): All rooms face Mt. Fuji; on-site dining; easy access to the lakeside.
- Tanukiko Campground: Tent or bungalow sites right by the water—wake up to Fuji’s reflection.
Practical notes
- Footwear: paths can get slick after rain—grippy soles help.
- Bring: small cash for kiosks, a light layer (waterfront feels cooler), and bug spray in warm months.
- Access: From Fujinomiya Station, take the bus toward Kyukamura Fuji / Lake Tanuki (check the latest timetable). Driving from central Fujinomiya is straightforward.
Local note
When the morning looks calm, just go. Grab a coffee, take the lakeside path, and let Fuji do the rest.
