Hi, I’m Take — born and raised in Fujinomiya. On this blog, I share practical, local tips so you can enjoy the area like a local.
Today’s Conditions
It is a stunning, crisp morning here in Fujinomiya! As of January 31st, the sky is a piercing “Fuji Blue,” and the air is refreshingly cold.
- Weather: Sunny and Clear ☀️
- Temperature: 8°C (46°F) – It feels much colder with the breeze, so bring a heavy coat!
- Impression: The mountain looks massive and imposing today. In the winter air, every ridge of the snow looks incredibly sharp.
Highlights & Visibility
The view today is what we locals live for. Looking up from the streets near the Shizuoka Chuo Bank (as seen in my photo), the contrast between the urban life and the ancient volcano is just spectacular.
- Visibility: 10/10 (Perfect clarity!)
- Snow Cover: The snowcap is thick and extends quite far down the slopes, typical for late January. It looks like a giant bowl of shaved ice!
- Pro Tip: If you’re taking photos from the street, watch out for the power lines—they are everywhere in Japan, but sometimes they add a cool “daily life” vibe to your shots.
Mt. Fuji is actually composed of three successive volcanoes: Komitake, Ko-Fuji (Old Fuji), and the current Shin-Fuji (New Fuji).
