Today's Mt Fuji

Hi, I’m Take — born and raised in Fujinomiya. On this blog, I share practical, local tips so you can enjoy the area like a local.

Today’s Conditions

It is a stunning, crisp winter day here in Fujinomiya! The sky is a brilliant “Fuji Blue,” and the air is incredibly sharp and clear.

  • Weather: Sunny ☀️
  • Temperature: High of 9°C (48°F) / Low of -1°C (30°F)
  • Impression: A perfect day for photography. While it’s sunny, the winter wind is biting, so a heavy coat and scarf are absolute must-haves if you’re heading out.

Highlights

  • Visibility: 9/10 The mountain is standing tall and proud today. There are a few wispy clouds drifting around the base, but the peak is perfectly visible.
  • Snow Cover: As you can see from the photo I snapped near the local shops, the snow cap is looking thick and beautiful. The white contrast against the blue sky is classic winter Fuji. The snow extends quite far down the slopes now, covering the rugged ridges clearly.

Local Tip: Even if it looks warm from behind a window, the wind chill in Fujinomiya during January is no joke. Dress in layers!

Mt. Fuji is actually a “triple volcano,” consisting of three separate volcanoes layered on top of each other: Komitake, Ko-Fuji, and Shin-Fuji.
