Today's Mt Fuji

Hi, I’m Take — born and raised in Fujinomiya. On this blog, I share practical, local tips so you can enjoy the area like a local.

Introduction

Good morning! Today is January 17, 2026. I took a trip up toward the Mt. Fuji climbing trail (Fujinomiya Trail) area this morning. The weather is absolutely perfect—crisp, cold, and a deep blue sky that you only see in the peak of winter. In the city, it’s about 8°C, but up here near the trailhead, it’s well below freezing. The air is so thin and fresh, it really wakes you up!

Highlights

  • Visibility: 10/10 As you can see from the photo I captured on the way up the climbing trail, there isn’t a single cloud in sight. The mountain looks massive and incredibly close. The contrast between the rugged textures of the trail and the pristine white snow on the peak is breathtaking.
  • Snow Condition The “Winter Dress” is at its most beautiful. The snow is thick and reaches far down past the upper stations of the trail. From this Fujinomiya side, you can see the distinctive craggy features of the crater rim covered in a heavy blanket of white. It looks like a giant powdered sugar cake!
